Village of Shreve Secures Final $500,000 Grant to Fully Fund $2.25 Million Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Shreve, Ohio – The Village of Shreve has successfully secured the final piece of funding needed to complete a major upgrade at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. A $500,000 grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) State Capital Improvement Program (SCIP) brings the total project funding to $2.25 million—entirely covered by grants.

This critical infrastructure project will replace the aging trickle filter system with a modern aeration system, ensuring improved wastewater treatment efficiency and compliance with environmental standards.

“This is a huge win for Shreve,” said Mayor Josiah Martin. “Securing full funding through grants means we can complete this necessary upgrade without placing a financial burden on our residents. We are grateful to the OPWC and all our funding partners for their support.”

The upgrade to the aeration system will enhance the plant’s capacity, improve water quality, and provide long-term sustainability for the village’s wastewater infrastructure.

“Our administration has been diligent in seeking grant funding to address vital infrastructure needs,” said Joan Zimmerly, Planning and Grant Administrator. “The fact that we’ve been able to fund this entire $2.25 million project through grants is a testament to our commitment to responsible planning and investment in Shreve’s future.”

The Village of Shreve will continue pursuing opportunities to enhance infrastructure and services, ensuring a strong foundation for growth and development.
