Street Department Seasonal Laborer

The Street Department Summer Help employee assists with mowing, trimming, landscaping, and general outdoor maintenance of streets, right-of-way, municipal properties, village-owned parks, and other public areas under the direction of the Village Administrator or assigned team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Mow grass and trim around signs, curbs, trees, fences, and other obstacles on municipal properties and rights-of-way.
• Perform weed eating, edging, mulching, watering, planting, and general landscaping duties.
• Maintain flower beds, landscaped areas, village-owned parks, and other public grounds.
• Remove litter, branches, leaves, and other debris from streets, sidewalks, and public areas.
• Use, clean, and maintain assigned tools and lawn equipment safely.
• Assist with other street department labor tasks as assigned.
• Follow department safety rules and work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Experience with mowing, landscaping, lawn care, or outdoor labor is preferred but not required. Candidates must be dependable, able to follow directions, and able to work safely as part of a team. Physical Demands and Working Conditions

This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. The employee must be able to safely operate basic lawn and maintenance equipment and perform routine seasonal labor tasks.

Schedule and Supervision

This is a temporary summer position with hours based on department needs and weather conditions. The employee reports to the Street Superintendent or assigned supervisor.
